On 30 September 2022 the inauguration event of the renovation of the San José de Leonessa Parish Hall in San José de los Campanos, a low-income neighbourhood in Cartagena (Colombia) took place.
The renovation of the Parish Hall was made possible by Synthesia Technology Colombia and Kingspan Colombia, who carried out the project to replace the old metal roof with Kingspan’s KingRoof panel. This panel incorporates a technology and more sustainable materials that act as thermal and acoustic insulation to help improve the quality of life of the community.
This project will generate a great social impact as the Parish helps and supports more than 139 families in the neighbourhood, especially the children who live there, with social projects such as the “building smiles” dining room or community actions ranging from school reinforcement for children between 6 and 14 years old to support for nursing mothers. The parish of San José de Leonessa acts not only as a centre for worship but is also part of the social environment of the community, a place to meet, congregate, pray and share many of its activities.
The inauguration event, which was attended by Maria Jimena Tovar, Business Director LATAM of Synthesia and John Torres, General Manager of Kingspan Colombia, was very emotional: the children of the neighbourhood presented a diploma to both representatives in gratitude and different celebratory dances were performed, as well as the blessing of the building by the parish priest.
Initiatives of this kind are of great importance to help the communities that need it most, especially the children, so that they can have a better future.
